As soon as you pop on a train, boat or plane if feels like a holiday :-), well it certainly does this year.  So we took ourselves off to the Lymington Ferry and hopped over the water to Yarmouth, West Isle of Wight for 3 days of camping.  What a huge shift within the foodie industry on the Island in the last 3/4 years, starting I think with The Hut, so much so that its won the GQ Food & Drinks Awards, Best Experience 2020.  Sitting right on the waters edge at Colwell Bay (where Selby grew up, so he understands and revels in the changes) you hear, see and smell the sea - on a sunny day, there's no better place.  We opted for brunch, and what better way than starting the day (after a night of 70mile an hr winds in our tent!) than with an Oyster Bloody Mary.  After brunch starters (I LOVE that - starters at brunch!) including Nduja croquettes, we followed up with classics such as Omelette Arnold Bennett & Lobster Benedict. The tableware (yes very important to me) food, location, service & vibe do not disappoint -  it is just pretty much perfect in my eyes.  
 
After the success of The Hut, the owners have converted another fabulous seaside property just up the beach, The Bay Cafe, it stands at the shore end of Totland Pier.  Giant windows overlook the Pier, which has lots of bench seating on the pier for good weather, its definitely more of a cafe vibe & the prices reflect that.  Its GREAT food, such as Dirty Crab Thermidor Fries & Mussel Popcorn, with a holiday feel, that will be open all year round, can't wait to go back, which will be soon……
 
An old classic that has definitely seen an upgrade of late is The George in Yarmouth.  What a turn around.  Again right on the sea front, its always had the best garden, and now that's paired with really amazing food, wine, live music.  The garden is now an Italian inspired beachfront garden with olive trees & a driftwood clad beach bar serving the most tasty Seafood, Fish & Pizzas - I shared my Garlicky Giant Prawns with my little ones Ribeye & Bernaise, so we had our own Surf n Turf - to die for.
 
West Wight has always been a joy for us as we have lots of family there, and its home really but now it has the added bonus of GREAT food, in the Best locations in the UK (in my opinion) let's wish them every luck in the future and every success, amazing that they are all doing so well (its so hard to get a table in all 3 of them) and shows that if you are expert in what you do, and you stay abreast of the game and invest in your business then you can weather the storm!
