Local Foodie Find - Italian Continental

Our little gem this month has been around longer than me. My family bundle moved to Maidenhead when I was 4, and we started to visit the Italian Continental then, owned by grandparents & parents of school friends. A tiny corner shop, that sourced the best ingredients from Italy has now successfully grown into a massive warehouse, amazing deli, online shop & still run & owned by the original Italian family. When you walk in on a Saturday morning, you can be taken to Italy - quick talking Italians, working & laughing their way through another busy day. On the shelves, everything Italian - jars of pesto, dried pasta, limoncello, freshly baked bread - as well as the sounds, the smells are memories of Italy. Then you turn into the Deli - fresh wonderful vegetables, that are all seasonal - you only get what’s on offer that month, sweet smelling flat peaches, figs, courgettes. And I’ve left the best to last - the counters - filled full of colours, smells & tastes of Italy - Parma ham, Milano salami, fennel salami, the best balsamic onions & olives you will ever taste (we never found better & we spent months travelling Italy), freshly made Arancini - Ham & Cheese, Spinach, Ragu, freshly made Aubergine Parmigiana - TGFC LOVES this place, it has a place in our heart & on many of our catering tables.
